Dog Friendly Beaches in Perth

Perth has no shortage of places where your four-legged friend can run free. Most beaches have a dog-friendly section, but we’ll share some of our favourites that we know are definitely dog-friendly below to make planning easy!

Best Beaches in Perth for Sunset

It’s no secret Perth’s west-facing coastline is made for golden hour and you can’t really go wrong with any of the beaches here if you’re after a magical sunset.

Here are our go-to beaches in Perth for the best sunset spots:

Hillary’s Boat Harbour

The view over the harbour at sunset is stunning and provides a different perspective compared to any of the other Perth beaches at sunset.

You’ll also find a good variety of dinner and drink spots or ice cream stores. It’s a great spot to enjoy a romantic evening.

Best for: Couples and dinner options.

Cottesloe (again – because it’s that good)

Bring a picnic rug, grab some fish and chips or an ice cream from Gelato Bar Cottesloe, and watch as the sun drops into the Indian Ocean.

Best for: Iconic Perth sunset photos.

Tips for Visiting Perth Beaches

  • Best time to visit: November to April for warm water and consistent sunshine.
  • Parking: Most beaches have free parking but limited spaces – go early or on weekdays.
  • Safety: Swim between the red and yellow flags where patrols operate.
  • Be sun smart: Perth summers can be harsh and it’s important to be prepared. Seek shade, remember sunscreen and drink plenty of water.
